We are pleased to announce that a paper by Dr. Kazuya Sumi,

“Seated Versus Standing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography: Association with Operator Fatigue and Pain”

has been published in Endoscopy International Open.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42846824/

This study compared seated and standing positions during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to investigate their association with operator fatigue and physical discomfort.

An analysis of 113 ERCP procedures showed that the seated position was associated with significantly smaller increases in operator fatigue and pain compared with the standing position, with no significant differences in procedural outcomes or adverse events.

These findings suggest that seated ERCP may offer a simple and practical approach to reducing the physical burden on endoscopists while maintaining procedural performance.

Congratulations, Dr. Sumi!
