We are pleased to announce that a paper by Dr. Kei Ushikubo,
“Endoscopic Pseudo-dilation of Esophagogastric Junction During Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy”
has been published in DEN Open. https://doi.org/10.1002/deo2.70360
This study defined “pseudo-dilation” as a phenomenon in which the esophagogastric junction (EGJ) appears dilated immediately after submucosal tunneling, even before myotomy is performed during POEM, and investigated its clinical significance.
Pseudo-dilation was observed in 95.4% of patients, highlighting the need for careful interpretation of endoscopic EGJ opening during POEM.
This study provides important insights into the intraoperative assessment of POEM.
Congratulations, Dr. Ushikubo!
