We are pleased to announce that a paper by Dr. Kazuki Yamamoto,

“Efficacy and Safety of Closure-Focused Anti-Reflux Mucoplasty Compared With Conventional ARMS: A Propensity Score–Matched Study (With Video)”

has been published in Digestive Endoscopy. https://doi.org/10.1111/den.70201

This study compared conventional ARMS/ARMA with closure-focused anti-reflux procedures, namely ARM-P (anti-reflux mucoplasty) and ARM-P/V (anti-reflux mucoplasty with valve), for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

In a propensity score–matched analysis of 251 patients, ARM-P and ARM-P/V significantly reduced adverse events and postoperative stricture formation while maintaining symptom improvement and anti-reflux efficacy comparable to those of conventional ARMS/ARMA.

Notably, the incidence of postoperative stricture was markedly decreased, suggesting that these closure-focused techniques may represent a promising strategy for improving the safety of endoscopic anti-reflux therapy for GERD.

Congratulations, Dr. Yamamoto!
